Wofford clinches share of SoCon title, 45-14

LEXINGTON, Va. — Andre Stoddard ran for two of Wofford’s six rushing touchdowns and the Terriers gained 200 yards on the ground to roll past VMI 45-14 on Saturday.

Wofford (9-1, 7-1 Southern Conference) clinched a share of the title with the win. Seven of the nine victories by Wofford this season are by seven or fewer points.

The Terriers jumped out to a 21-0 lead at the 3:29 mark of the second quarter on short TD runs by Blake Morgan, Lennox McAfee and Stoddard. Reece Udinski connected with Kris Thornton for a 7-yard score to pull the Keydets (0-11, 0-8) within 21-7 at the half.

Wofford added short rushing TDs from Stoddard and Joe Newman, and a Luke Carter 32-yard field goal made it 38-7 after three quarters.

Western Carolina 33

CULLOWHEE, N.C. — Tee Mitchell had 26 carries for 120 yards and a touchdown, Alex Lakes ran for 87 yards and two scores and Mercer (5-5, 4-4) held off Western Carolina.

Tyrie Adams threw for 378 yards and three scores for Western Carolina (7-4, 5-3).

East Tennessee State 7

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Devlin Hodges threw for four touchdowns and Samford rolled over East Tennessee State.

Hodges was 20-of-32 passing for 261 yards for the Bulldogs (7-3, 5-2). Scoring throws went to Montrell Washington, Clarke Miller, Andrew Harris and Jai’Rus Creamer, who led with 85 yards receiving. Treyvon Paulk ran for a score.

Austin Herink threw for 139 yards and a score for the Buccaneers (4-6, 2-5) and was intercepte­d twice.

GREENVILLE, S.C.— P.J. Blazejowsk­i had two touchdown passes, Anthony Wilcox and Kealand Dirks each ran in two more scores, and Furman won its seventh straight game with a victory over The Citadel.

Furman (7-3, 6-1) scored touchdowns with each of its first seven possession­s and held The Citadel (5-5, 3-5) scoreless until the third quarter when Jordan Black connected with Raleigh Webb for a 48-yard touchdown.

Black finished with 223 yards passing and two touchdowns.
