Austin Peay rallies past E. Kentucky

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Jeremiah Oatsvall threw for two touchdowns and ran for the game-winner with less than a minute to play as Austin Peay rallied with 24 unanswered points in the second half to beat Eastern Kentucky 31-24 on Saturday.

The game was tied 24-all when Oatsvall capped a 62-yard drive with an 8-yard run with 53 seconds left and the Governors (7-4, 6-1 Ohio Valley Conference) held on for the win.

Austin Peay trailed 21-7 at halftime and 24-7 after an Eastern Kentucky field goal midway through the third quarter. Two plays into the following drive, Oatsvall hit Kyran Moore for a 59-yard touchdown. DJ Montgomery caught a 17-yard TD from Oatsvall in the fourth and Cole Phillips kicked a 42-yard field goal to tie at 24-24 with 5:22 remaining.

Oatsvall was 11-of-15 passing for 203 yards. Ahmaad Tanner ran for 90 yards and a score and Moore had 100 yards receiving.

Tim Boyle threw for 213 yards and two scores for the Colonels (3-7, 3-5).

› Middle Tennessee 35, Charlotte 21

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Brent Stockstill threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns to become Middle Tennessee’s all-time passing leader, Tavares Thomas ran for two scores, and the Blue Raiders beat Charlotte.

Stockstill, who completed 18 of 31 passes, has thrown for 8,159 yards, overtaking Wes Counts, who threw for 8,007 from 1998-2001. Stockstill has thrown at least one TD pass in each of his last 20 games for Middle Tennessee (5-5, 3-3 Conference USA).

Hasaan Klugh threw TD passes to Mark Quattlebau­m and Trent Bostik for the 49ers (1-9, 1-5).

› Murray State 31, Tennessee Tech 21

MURRAY, Ky. — Jordon Gandy caught eight passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns and D.J. Penick rushed for 139 yards and two scores to lead Murray State to a victory over Tennessee Tech.

Trailing 7-3, the Racers (3-7, 2-4 Ohio Valley Conference) used Shuler Bentley’s 62-yard scoring strike to Gandy and a 48-yard TD run by Penick to take a 17-7 halftime lead.

Bentley completed 23 of 39 passes for 234 yards for the Racers, who ended a three-game skid against the Golden Eagles (1-9, 1-6).

› Tennessee State 23, Southeast Missouri State 20

NASHVILLE — Michael Hughes threw for two touchdowns and Lane Clark kicked a 44-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter to lift Tennessee State to a win over Southeast Missouri State.

Vincent Sellers blocked a Southeast Missouri State punt with 4:37 left to play, helping set up the winning field goal.

Steven Newbold caught five passes for 153 yards as Tennessee State (6-4, 2-4 Ohio Valley Conference) outgained the Redhawks 343-231.

Southeast Missouri State (2-8, 2-5) got 116 yards rushing from Marquis Terry and both of Jesse Hosket’s touchdown throws were to Kristian Wilkerson.

› Jacksonvil­le State 14, UT-Martin 7

MATIN, Tenn. — Roc Thomas rushed for two touchdowns, Joseph Roberts recovered a fumble in the final minute, and Jacksonvil­le State escaped with a victory over UT-Martin to win the Ohio Valley Conference title for the fourth straight season.

Jacksonvil­le State (9-1, 7-0) also won its 31st straight conference game.

Dresser Winn threw for 128 yards and a score for UT Martin (5-5, 3-4).
