Daniel Joe Record passed peacefully Dec. 2, 2017 at his home. Dan was born Sept. 18, 1928 in Chester County, Henderson, Tenn. Dan was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority. He enjoyed retirement traveling and camping in their RV with his wife Joan Godsey Record until she passed in 2009.

Dan loved working in his yard and in his workshop. He served in the US Navy from 1946-1948. Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Godsey Record; parents, CJ & Gladys Record; brother, William “Bill” Record; and sister, Betty Thurman.

He is survived by his children, Karen Boyd, David King, Susan King, Bryan King, Dan Record Jr., Cindy Record and Andy Record; brother, Walder “Buddy” Record and wife Margaret; grandchild­ren, Chase Boyd, Chad Boyd, Seth King, Nathan King, Addison Walker; great grandson, Brandon Boyd; and his special caregivers, Miss Betty, Lesha, Sarah and Rhonda. His caregivers loved him as much as we did and took excellent care of him. Dan’s brother Walder was nicknamed “Buddy” by Dan because he always said he was his little buddy. They did everything together and looked out for one another. Dan was of the Church of Christ faith.

Services will be held Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 in the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Ewing officiatin­g.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 3 p.m.

Interment will be in Buttram Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to Buttram Cemetery, Alzheimers Associatio­n or Hospice of Chattanoog­a.
