Four arrested on drug charges in DeKalb
Four people have been arrested on drug-related charges in the last week in DeKalb County, Ala., according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
On Dec. 13, deputies went to a home on County Road 602 to serve a warrant on Timothy Smith, 45, of Fort Payne. Deputies searched the home and found marijuana and a marijuana pipe. Smith was arrested on a felony warrant for failure to comply.
Kimberly Dawn Haston, 23, of Henagar, was also arrested and charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
In another incident, the sheriff’s office received a tip Sunday about a stolen vehicle being at a home on Highway 75 in the Higdon community.
As deputies and an Ider police officer arrived on the scene, they saw 37-year-old Christopher Ray, of Ringgold, running into the home and Jessica Constance Gilreath, 29 of Crawford, Tenn., sitting in a vehicle outside the home.
Ray began fighting police when they entered the home, but he was eventually detained.
In the meantime, the license plate number for the vehicle that Ray and the woman were in came back as belonging to a different vehicle. When police ran the vehicle identification number, it was discovered that the vehicle was stolen from Chattanooga.
As police searched the vehicle, they found what appeared to be a meth lab in the trunk. Both Ray and Gilreath were arrested.
Ray was charged with resisting arrest, attempting to elude, criminal mischief, assault, unlawful possession of controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana, and obstructing governmental operations.
Gilreath was charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana, and receiving stolen property.
