Mocs add 3rd O-line recruit

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga picked up a commitment Tuesday evening from Chandon Page, a senior offensive lineman at Pearl-Cohn.

Page, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, was named to the Class 3A all-state team and was the Nashville Metro offensive line MVP this season after after being named the Region 5-4A offensive lineman of the year as a junior. He was also named to the Tennessean All-Midstate second team as an offensive lineman this year and was a two-time all-region selection.

His blocking helped paved the way for a Firebirds offense that averaged 269.6 rushing yards, 401.3 yards of total offense and 41.6 points per game in 2017 as Pearl-Cohn finished 11-3 and reached the state semifinals. Also a defensive contributor, he had 25 tackles, including four for loss in 10 recorded statistical games.

Page is the 17th player expected to join the Mocs in 2018, but only the fourth who hasn’t signed. B.E.S.T. Academy (Atlanta) defensive back Blaine Gibson committed last week, while a pair of defensive linemen committed during the regular season but didn’t sign during the early period this month. Page is the third offensive lineman in the recruiting/signing class — Mississippi State transfer Harrison Moon and Dalton’s Dylan Cole are the others — as the Mocs add to a position group at which they struggled this season.
