New Year’s Eve gospel sing at The Colonnade
Before singing “Auld Lang Syne” at midnight on Sunday, Dec. 31, several hundred gospel-music fans will be humming along to “Beyond Amazed” when Brian Free & Assurance take the stage at the sixth annual New Year’s Eve Gospel Music Jubilee on Sunday afternoon.
The gospel sing will be held from 2:30 to 5 p.m. in The Colonnade, 264 Catoosa Circle, Ringgold, Ga. Joining the headliners will be Appointed Quartet and Chatta Valley.
“Beyond Amazed” is the title track of Brian Free & Assurance’s newest album released in September. The trio is formed by Free, tenor; Bill Shivers, lead; and Mike Rogers, baritone.
Free has been singing Southern gospel music for 35 years; first as a member of Gold City Quartet, then forming his own group.
He and wife Pam have two grown sons, Ricky and Bryce, who are heavily involved in the ministry. Ricky is a full-time songwriter, drummer, studio musician and produces all of BFA’s recordings. The group has recorded many of Ricky’s songs and he plays drums on their CDs. Bryce, a graduate of Belmont University, creates the group’s graphic design and videography.
The group won a Dove Award for Southern Gospel Performance of the Year for “Say Amen” in 2014. Brian Free & Assurance has made television appearances on TBN, Gospel Music Channel, “Prime Time Country,” “Hee Haw,” the “Today Show” and appeared in 27 of the Gaither video series.
Tickets to the Gospel Jubilee are $15 and $17. Proceeds will benefit Dogwood Bible Camp, an outreach of Dogwood Valley Baptist Church.
