Man charged with rape, assault

-

A man was arrested Sunday after allegedly raping a woman and assaulting another.

Marcus Woodard, 29, is charged with aggravated rape, aggravated assault and domestic assault.

Police arrived at a home on the 200 block of Tocoa Avenue in the Brainerd area. When police entered the home, a half-dressed woman was on her way out, according to an arrest report. Another topless woman came out of a back bedroom.

Then police saw Woodard go from one room to another while fixing his pants, the arrest report said. That’s when they took him into custody.

As the investigation continued, police learned that several people were at the home, and the two women were making conversation about mutual friends when Woodard and another man started to argue. Woodard allegedly was holding a handgun during the argument.

The two women retreated to a back room and then into a bathroom when they heard the argument escalating. One of the women decided to go out and try to calm Woodard down, but when she opened the bathroom door, she said he punched her in the face, asking “why she locked the door on him.”

Woodard then ordered both women to remove their clothes and have sex with each other while “waving the gun around,” the arrest report states, but one of the women went back into the bathroom.

At some point after that, Woodard “changed his mind” and ordered the other woman to give him oral sex, all the while still holding the gun, according to the arrest report. That is when police arrived at the residence.

Woodard refused to speak to investigators. He has an arrest record in Hamilton County dating back to 2007, according to online court records. Most are drug-related charges or driver’s license violations, but one instance includes a domestic assault charge in 2009.
