John W. (Bill) Farmer 66, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at NHC Healthcare Rossville, Ga.

Bill was a native Chattanoog­an, having attended Harrison Elementary, Ooltewah Jr. High, East Side Jr. High, KIRKMAN HIGH CLASS of 1969, and UTC where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

He began working for Bell South in June 1969 and was just four months short of working 30 years before he had to retire on disability due to Parkinson’s disease; he could no longer climb tall telephone poles to repair those lines.

Bill enjoyed bowling, playing softball, watching football and his favorite TV show was Jeopardy. He also enjoyed playing Rook with his best friend, Rick Lyons, along with his mom and other family members. Bill attended Ridgedale Baptist Church with his sister.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Farmer and Yvonne Russell Farmer Mathis.

Survivors include children, Beth (Nick) Sosebee, John Farmer and Bonnie Farmer; grandchild­ren, Blake, Nicholas, Memphis, Kristy, Grace and Axle; brothers, Frank, Charles, Ernie and Kenneth; and one sister, Jenneth Farmer Randall; Uncle Floyd and Aunt Juanita Russell; many nieces, nephews and cousins. (Bill was the sweetest and kindest brother ever!)
