Margaret Ann McCarty Morris, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a lengthy illness early Monday morning Jan. 29, 2018.

Ann was born on the family farm Tuskega, in Vonore, Tenn. on May 25, 1935 and grew up on Signal Mountain, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Morris Jr.; parents, Susan McCarty, Dixon McCarty; and brother Dixon McCarty Jr.

Ann graduated from Chattanoog­a City High in 1953 and attended University of Chattanoog­a. She married Paul Morris, Jr. June 23, 1956 and they moved to Signal Mountain.

She worked at Provident until her children were born and then Ann taught kindergart­en for several years at Signal Mountain Presbyteri­an Church and later taught Bible in the schools at Rivermont Elementary. She was an active member at Signal Mtn Presbyteri­an Church and her faith was unwavering. She was a constant loving presence in the lives of her children and grandchild­ren and special caretaker of many four-legged friends over the years.

Ann is survived by son, Paul Morris III (Marsha Robertson) Nashville; daughter, Susan Cotter (Tommy); grandchild­ren, Thomas “Trey” Cotter and Margaret Carson Cotter of Signal Mountain; two dear sisters-in-law, Alice Gaskell of Cornwall, England and Elizabeth “Libba” (Charlie) Adams of Pittsboro, N.C.; nieces, Nancy McCarty; children, Aris and Mia Iannios, Mary Ann Leun (Jeff), Grace and Ryan Leun, all of Signal Mtn.

She was blessed with too many wonderful supportive friends to name. She loved effortless­ly and was loved by all that knew her

Memorial contributi­ons may be made to NAMI or McKamey Animal Shelter.

A memorial service will be held in Marr Chapel, Signal Mountain Presbyteri­an Church on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1 p.m.
