RINGGOLD — Lt. Ray Lester Bowman, 63, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, at home surrounded by his family.

He was a lifelong resident of Ringgold and a member of Heritage Point Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Masonic Lodge-LaFayette and was employed at the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department. He served his community as a police officer for over 40 years and was a loving husband, father, grandfathe­r, brother and friend, who will be greatly missed.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond L. and Virginia Pitts Bowman.

He is survived by his loving wife, Victoria Espy Bowman; children, Shaun Bowman, of Ooltewah, Holly (Ernest) Wilbanks, of Red Bank, Madison Bowman, of Ringgold and Danette (Ricky) Miller, of Ringgold; stepsons, Tommy (Samantha) Crowder and Timothy Crowder; sister, Nancy Woods, of Harriman; 11 grandchild­ren; four great-grandchild­ren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Heritage Point Baptist Church, with Bor. Neal Brown officiatin­g. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the memorial service.
