Ocoee Theatre lands ‘Boeing Boeing’
Ocoee Theatre announces its next production will be the uproarious comedy “Boeing Boeing.”
“This will be one of our most challenging productions. It’s filled with physical, fast-paced comedy and impeccable timing,” says Candy Tapper, president of the theatre group.
Five weekend performances are scheduled starting Saturday, Feb. 10, through Sunday, Feb. 18, at The Venue Creekside in Cleveland, Tenn.
“Boeing Boeing” is a classic farce written by French playwright Marc Camoletti and translated by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans.
The story revolves around Bernard, an American playboy, who is engaged to three beautiful flight attendants: one German, one Italian and one American. With the help of three flight schedules, Bernard is able to keep the ladies separated and concealed from each other.
This setup works fine as long as Bernard’s live-in maid, Berthe, keeps things straight in the apartment. Depending on the day of the week, she makes sure the apartment reflects the belongings and likes of the flight attendant scheduled to be there.
Although the plan works for a while, things begin to unravel after the women’s flight orders change. It becomes increasingly difficult to keep them apart and eventually all three attendants arrive home on the same day.
Adding to the situation, Bernard’s longtime friend, Robert, unexpectedly arrives in town. Robert, who is less skilled with the ladies, tries to help Bernard by keeping the ladies apart. And the fun begins … the awkward friend finds himself entangled in the chaos as he struggles to keep the ladies from learning the truth.
Ocoee Theatre’s cast includes Jonathan Tyndall, Dawn Wilson and Trevor Miles with Heather Johnson, Ashley Haddock and Paige Smith as the stewardesses. Tickets are $12 and $15. For more information: 423-284-8209.
