ACROPOLIS CELEBRATES Valentine’s week
There is a benefit to Valentine’s Day falling on a Wednesday.
When the holiday falls on a weekend, said Acropolis owner Nick Kyriakidis, couples all rush to restaurants at the same time. But when it’s midweek, couples tend to celebrate on their own time. And this year, Acropolis is accommodating that tendency by offering a special Valentine’s Day menu from Feb. 11-18.
Featuring a couple of appetizers and seven entrees, the Acropolis menu boasts an abundance of options this Valentine’s Day.
The appetizers include the return of Acropolis’ cold-weather quail poppers, featuring Georgia quail stuffed with goat cheese and fresh jalapeno and wrapped in bacon; and the new baked Chesapeake Bay oysters topped with artichokes, spinach and Parmesan.
A few highlights from the entree selection are crabmeat-stuffed lemon sole, which Nick described as a subtly sweet whitefish, served over red potatoes and topped with asparagus and hollandaise. Or, seafood-lovers may also enjoy the shellfish risotto, comprising sauteed shrimp, sea scallops and Prince Edward Island mussels, served over Parmesan risotto and Brussels sprouts. Or, a more out-of-the-ordinary option is the pork schnitzel, panko-encrusted, pan-seared and served over spaetzle with lemon caper butter and braised red cabbage.
Acropolis’ everyday menu will still be available, too.
“Lamb shanks, lamb chops — all the dishes we’re known for,” Nick said.
All entrees come with a recommended wine pairing. And, of course, dessert is a must.
And if the special chocolate raspberry torte doesn’t tickle your fancy? You can sample any one of Acropolis’ homemade desserts offered in its on-site bakery: Oreo cake, baklava cheesecake, German chocolate cake, Key lime pie, strawberry cake — sweet options as varied as Valentine’s week is long.
