Lady Bulldogs win in OT against Bama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Caliya Robinson had 12 points and 12 rebounds, including the putback score with 3.2 seconds left in regulation, to help the No. 19 Georgia women’s basketball team pull out a 49-43 win in overtime at Alabama on Thursday night.

The Lady Bulldogs’ Gabby Connally came off the bench and scored all five of her points in overtime — a 3-pointer to open the scoring and two free throws with 24 seconds left. The Crimson Tide missed all eight of their shots in the extra session.

Mackenzie Engram led the Lady Dogs (23-5, 11-4 Southeaste­rn Conference), who shot 34 percent and went 1-for-13 from behind the arc, with 16 points and nine rebounds. Que Morrison had 11 rebounds, seven points, two steals and two assists, while Taja Cole had nine points, three assists and three steals.

Engram also had nine rebounds, while Robinson also had three blocks and two steals.

Ashley Williams had 14 points and nine rebounds to pace Alabama (17-11, 7-8), which shot 24 percent for the game.

The final difference matched the largest lead in the game, which featured nine ties and 16 lead changes. There were also 48 turnovers, including 27 by Georgia, which closes the regular season Sunday at Florida before next week’s SEC tournament in Nashville.

Alabama’s regular-season finale is at LSU on Sunday.
