Let’s go fly a kite

We’re not stringing you along when we say Sunday’s fun in the Tennessee Riverpark is over your head.

The Chattanoog­a Indian Festival Associatio­n is sponsoring a kite festival on Sunday, March 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Riverpark, 4301 Amnicola Highway.

Jay Patel says the community is invited to join CIFA members for a day of flying or simply watching the brilliantl­y colored kites against the sky. The event is cancelled if raining.

CIFA will have kites for sale, if you don’t have your own, and there will be a food court selling concession­s.

Here are five things to know before you go:

Admission is $20 per vehicle with up to eight passengers. Larger vehicles, such as 15-passenger vans, will require two parking passes. No vehicles larger than a 15-passenger van will be allowed in this event.

No cooking is allowed in the park; however, you may bring a picnic lunch.

No alcohol, tobacco or cooking equipment allowed.

Guests may bring lawn chairs, picnic mats, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen lotion, jackets, Band-Aids, medicine. Guests are expected to pick up after themselves before leaving the park.
