Fairbanks seeks to retain seat in District 1

- STAFF REPORT

Incumbent Hamilton County Commissioner Randy Fairbanks is seeking re-election to the District 1 seat.

He faces Steve Coker in the May 1 Republican primary. No Democrat filed for the seat, which includes the precincts of Bakewell, Dallas, Falling Water, Flat Top Mountain, Northwoods, Sale Creek and Soddy-Daisy.

Fairbanks was named commission chairman in 2017 and served as vice chairman in 2016. He won election to the seat in 2014 by beating incumbent Fred Skillern.

In a news release, Fairbanks said he has worked to secure funding for volunteer fire departments across the northern end of Hamilton County and has been an advocate for the schools as well as a strong supporter of municipalities.

He also serves on the Chattanooga Convention and Visitors Bureau board and the River City board. He is the founder and owner of Fairbanks CPA in Hixson.

“It has been an honor to serve my district as well as Hamilton County,” Fairbanks said in a news release.

“Through grit and hard work, we have funded schools, supported our first responders, and protected the veterans of our community. Many jobs and projects have been completed, but there are goals that myself, along with community leaders, have not yet completed.

“I ask for your support to send me back to the county commission for another term and allow me to complete all that we have started. It would be my honor to do so.”

Voter registration is April 2 and early voting is April 11-26.
