Kathryn “Kay” Anne Dugan, 66, of Hixson, Tenn., passed away Monday, March 19, 2018.

Kay was born on April 14, 1951, in Port Arthur, Texas, to the late Anna Kathryn and James S. McKemy. She was a graduate of Denison University where she was also a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. She earned her master’s degree in Student Personnel from The Ohio State University. Kay spent her career teaching students of all ages from preschool to college. Kay was also an active member of the Hixson United Methodist Church.

Kay dedicated her life to loving and taking care of her family. She was a treasured wife, mother, sister, daughter, and Grammy. She loved to sing with her church choir and The Roueché Chorale. Kay was known for her love of travel, good coffee, good books, and all dogs.

Kay will be dearly missed by her friends and family near and far.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dugan.

She is survived by her daughters, Kelly Dugan Marr and Laura Dugan; sons-inlaw, Adam Marr and Andrew Franco; granddaugh­ters, Abby and Leah Marr; brother, Tim McKemy; sisters-in-law, Dee McKemy and Lin Storm, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Hixson United Methodist Church, 5301 Old Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN.

A celebratio­n of life service for Kay will follow at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the church with Pastor Reed Shell officiatin­g.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons be made in Kay’s name to the Humane Educationa­l Society of Chat- tanooga, 212 North Highland Park Avenue, Chattanoog­a, TN 37404.
