‘Long-Haired Hare’

That Bugs Bunny cartoon will be part of the fun when the CSO goes Looney Tunes

- STAFF REPORT

“Eh, what’s up, Doc?” Bugs Bunny’s catchphrase is sure to be part of the entertaining fusion of cartoon animation with classical music when the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera presents “Bugs Bunny at the Symphony II.” The CSO special event will be Saturday night, March 24, in the Tivoli Theatre.

Bugs, Daffy Duck, Tom and Jerry and all the lovable Looney Tunes gang will get in on the act. “Bugs Bunny at the Symphony II” is a celebration of the Warner Bros. Looney Tunes characters on a big screen with live full symphony orchestra accompaniment.

“It will be the whole orchestra playing the tracks of iconic Looney Tunes cartoons while they’re projected on a screen behind the orchestra,” describes Andre Charitat, CSO marketing and communications manager.

This production is the sequel to “Bugs Bunny on Broadway,” the record-setting orchestra-and-film concert that pioneered a new genre of symphony orchestra entertainment when it debuted on Broadway in 1990.

“Bugs Bunny at the Symphony II” includes Chuck Jones’ “What’s Opera, Doc?” and “The Rabbit of Seville,” while adding in other Warner Bros. classics like “Rhapsody Rabbit,” “LongHaired Hare” and the orchestral roller-coaster ride of the Road Runner epic, “Zoom and Bored.”

New to the concert: guest appearances by Tom and Jerry “In The Hollywood Bowl,” two Daffy Duck epics — “Show Biz Bugs” and “Robin Hood Daffy” — and a trio of love songs by the world’s most scent-challenged crooner, Pepe Le Pew.

Additionally, two, new, 3D-CGI Looney Tunes — “Rabid Rider” and “Coyote Falls” — round out the evening before the show winds up and “Th-th-ththat’s all, folks!”

Tickets range from $28 to $90. They can be purchased by calling 423-2678583 or online at www.chattanoogasymphony.org.
