DSC women win SSAC title by 35

The Dalton State women’s golf team closed out the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament Wednesday in Montgomery, Ala., with a 35-stroke victory at 889, and individual runner-up Tia Teiniketo

(222) was announced as the player of the year with DSC’s Jim McGrew the coach of the year. Teiniketo prepped at Baylor. The Lady Roadrunner­s’ Isabel Rijos was the medalist at 219 with Caroline Griffin third at 223, Katie Dalton tied for fifth at 225 and Hannah Gasaway tied for ninth at 232.

› Belmont freshman Jack Uselton from Tullahoma was second at 216 after a finalround 69 Wednesday in the Ohio Valley Conference men’s tournament at Muscle Shoals, Ala. The Bruins tied for third behind champion Jacksonvil­le State and Eastern Kentucky. Tennessee Tech finished fifth with Bracton Womack from McMinnvill­e and Alexander Riddle from Chattanoog­a tying for 28th and 35th at 226 and 231.

was the women’s golf co-player of the year in the Appalachia­n Athletic Conference, and Tennessee Wesleyan’s Ryann McQuistion and Danielle Bates made the All-AAC second team.

› Sewanee’s Tommy Oliver was honored as co-player of the year for men’s golf in the Southern Athletic Associatio­n, and fellow Tigers sophomore Gray Matthews

joined him on the All-SAA first team with senior Taylor Mottern on the second team. Sewanee junior Meghan Symonds made the women’s first team after finishing second in the league tournament.
