Authorities said a man East Ridge police found early Tuesday in the 3400 block of Frawley Street suffering from a gunshot wound that was not lifethreatening was shot when he was recognized as a robbery suspect by someone at a Fort Oglethorpe laundromat earlier the same morning.

Shaun Patrick Sisk, 28, had a wound to his arm when East Ridge police answered the call around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, East Ridge police Assistant Chief Stan Allen said Tuesday.

“He was driving a [Toyota] truck that was stolen out of Chattanooga this past weekend and it had some lawn equipment in it that we’re trying to track down and see if that was stolen, as well,” Allen said.

Sisk is also named a suspect in a robbery at the Walgreens drug store at 1228 Battlefield Parkway around midnight April 23-24, Fort Oglethorpe police said.

Fort Oglethorpe police named Sisk a suspect in the Walgreens robbery last Wednesday, posting his mugshot on the department’s Facebook page in hopes a member of the public spotted him.

That’s what happened Tuesday morning, and the confrontation that followed led to a couple of gunshots, Fort Oglethorpe police Chief Mike Helton said in a statement.

The chain of events began in Fort Oglethorpe when a person at the Wash Daze Coin Laundry on LaFayette Road recognized Sisk as the Walgreens robbery suspect and called police.

There was a confrontation between the person, whose name was not released, and Sisk as the person attempted to keep the wanted man at the laundromat until police arrived, Helton said.

“The confrontation resulted in the citizen firing two shots from their personal firearm at Mr. Sisk, while during the incident the citizen perceived they were endangered by Mr. Sisk’s actions,” Helton said.

Sisk then fled from the laundromat toward East Ridge, where he was apprehended on Frawley Street, Helton said. Frawley Street is on the East Ridge-Chattanooga boundary near the Germantown Road exit on Interstate 24.

Helton said the person who fired at Sisk is not being identified for the time being.

East Ridge Police Department Chief J.R. Reed said Sisk had “numerous outstanding warrants through several jurisdictions” linked to charges of aggravated domestic assault, vehicle thefts, robbery, burglary and felony evading arrest.

Beside his problems in East Ridge and Fort Oglethorpe, Sisk is wanted by Red Bank, Chattanooga and Marion County, Tenn., authorities, said.

The investigation is continuing, authorities said.
