RINGGOLD — Raymond Mathias Varner Jr., 81, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018.

Raymond was born 1936 to the late Raymond Sr. and Alberta Varner in Chattanoog­a, Tenn. He graduated from Notre Dame High School, in Chattanoog­a, class of 1954 and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Raymond was a business developer, avid boater, golfer, and world traveler. Raymond explored many far off places with friends and family by way of his boat.

He was preceded in death by son, David Lawarence and sister, Carolyn Jones.

Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Mozelle Varner; sons, Michael Scott Varner, Palm City, Fla., Greg Alan Varner, Westville, Fla., Michael Ray Varner (Joanna), Ringgold, Christophe­r Reece Varner, Ringgold; daughter, Deborah Lynn Bradford (Larry), Palm City, Fla.; brothers, Stephen Varner, Clearwater, Fla., Doug Varner (Brenda), Knoxville, Donald Varner (Mary Beth), St. Petersburg, Fla., Ronald Varner (Helga), St. Petersburg, Fla., and Richard Varner (Sally), Hixson, Tenn.; 10 grandchild­ren; and four great-grandchild­ren.

A Celebratio­n of Raymond’s life will take place Friday, May 11, 1 to 3 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
