› Pastor reception: Cleveland Cowboy Church, 3040 Blythe Road, will honor Pastor Wally Varnell on Sunday as he celebrates his 85th birthday. The “just as you are” worship service starts at 11 a.m., with special music provided by gospel singer Joel Moore, host of the church’s Friday night Cowboy Gospel Jubilee. Varnell has been active in ministry for more than 50 years, including as director of music, director of the largest bus ministry in Cleveland (more than 300 children each Sunday), associate pastor and pastor of Calvary Baptist Church during the late 70s and ’80s. He has seven years of service at Cleveland Cowboy Church.
