America’s birthday
Bubble-wrap fireworks and fizzy fun with 21-soda geyser salute
Children are invited to the Creative Discovery Museum on the Fourth of July to celebrate Red, White and Blue Day from noon to 4 p.m.
The patriotic party includes crafts and activities that teach children about the reason July Fourth is observed every year.
“Red, White and Blue Day gives families a fun way to celebrate while exploring the historical reason for the holiday,” says Jayne Griffin, director of education at Creative Discovery Museum.
“This event is one of the few opportunities in our community for children and adults to participate in activities that go beyond our normal traditions and customs for the holiday.”
Guests will gather in the atrium at 2 p.m. to hear the Declaration of Independence read by Thomas Jefferson and Uncle Sam characters, followed by child-friendly bubble-wrap fireworks.
Immediately afterward, a 21-Diet Coke geyser salute will honor the men and women in the military who serve our country. Birthday cake and ice cream will be served outside on the museum plaza (weather permitting).
To thank those who protect and serve America, active-duty military and veterans will receive free admission to the museum with their families on July 4 with presentation of a military ID (good for up to four guests).
All activities are included with regular $14.95 admission to the museum.
