Hamilton County Commission District 1

› OFFICE: HAMILTON COUNTY COMMISSION, DISTRICT 1

-

› Party: Republican

› Previous public office experience: Elected to County Commission in 2014

› Why voters should choose me: Four years ago when I ran, I promised the citizens of District 1 that I would be in the schools and in the community to listen to what they had to say. I have worked very hard in keeping that promise. I believe I have done what they elected me to do.

› Biggest challenge facing the office I seek: Although there are several challenges in my district, the most important one is we desperately need sewers throughout the District 1 boundaries. With the addition of sewers, the potential is great for growth.

› How I will address this challenge: The reason this is such a difficult challenge is the expense. It will take a vision, not only by the people of District 1, but by the whole county. Because of the enormous cost, this work can’t happen overnight. That is why we must start the discussion now to adequately plan for this to happen.

› Policy position of mine that may surprise people: I’m always for the underdog. I look for the one who says no matter what my gender, race or socioeconomic background, I can do whatever I want to do. I want to see them pick the biggest mountain they can and start climbing.

› Public servant I most admire: [State Rep.] Mike Carter. I have watched him for 20 years, first as a General Sessions judge and then as a state representative. Two words I would use to describe Mike Carter are compassionate and honest. He truly cares about all people. He will always tell you the truth.
