BusySummer

-

Just before opening, Brewhaus’ second-story patio overlooking Coolidge Park is a peaceful place. Tourists amble by on Walnut Street Bridge. Robins sing from the redbud trees. A velvety breeze blows off the river, stirring up the scent of good beer — for which Brewhaus is known.

But on Sept. 8-9, this scene will be anything but quiet. In fact, Brewhaus’ patio will become front row seats to the Moon River Festival, being hosted — for the first time ever — in Coolidge Park, and featuring huge music acts such as headliners The Avett Brothers.

The festival is already sold out. Luckily, Brewhaus is planning its own event. Throughout that weekend, it will host both a front parking lot party and — for the first time ever — a backyard party, which will take place in its back gravel parking lot.

The area will be roped off and will feature a beer trailer and buffet-style eats.

“We’ll probably do barbecue and brats, end-of-summer things,” said owner Hunter Hart.

In the meantime, there are plenty of ways to enjoy summer being in full swing at Brewhaus. Throughout August, Yee-Haw Brewing Company will be featured on Brewhaus’ taps. One to two of the Johnson City, Tennessee, brewery’s craft beers will always be on tap. Then, on Aug. 8, Yee-Haw will “take over” all of Brewhaus’ taps during the pub’s monthly “tap takeover” event — always a lively time.

Yes, that just-before-opening quietude never lasts forever. And Brewhaus wouldn’t have it any other way.
