Clay Maselle believes in his band, Strung Like a Horse, and he believes in Chattanooga. His faith appears to be paying off and he wants to show the city and fans of the band some love for always being there.

The band recently signed a record deal with Transoceanic Records, and on Friday they will host a Hometown Throwdown at The Signal to celebrate.

“We want to say thankyou to Chattanooga and all the people that have helped and supported us,” Maselle says. “We owe a lot to Chattanooga because it has been so supportive since day one.”

Maselle and bandmates Danimal on bass, Crispy on drums and Tyler Martelli on guitar, will be going into the studio soon to record a new record. Maselle says a label representative actually tracked them down in Florida during a tour to make an offer almost 18 months ago, but he wanted to wait until he had a new batch of songs in which he felt confident.

“I said, ‘Let me finish writing this batch of songs.’ It’s just really exciting.”

He says signing is the fulfillment of dream.

“It’s a major label budget, which means we get to do everything that we’ve dreamed of and we get to do it how we’ve wanted to do it. It opens up a whole buch of doors because we have this team backing us now.”

The band, which plays punkish/Americana brand music, has been touring the country of late, performing with such acts as Charlie Daniels, Travis Tritt, Sam Bush and Old Crow Medicine Show.

Performing with Strung Like a Horse at The Signal will be pop/funk band Hive Theory, winners of this year’s Road to Nightfall, and fingerstyle guitarist/singer Lon Eldridge.
