Producers are looking nationwide to cast shows

PRODUCERS LOOKING NATION WIDE TO CAST SEVERAL SHOWS

- BY LISA DENTON STAFF WRITER

There may be no familiar faces on the new season of “Wife Swap,” but casting director Holland Weathers says hopefuls shouldn’t feel dissuaded. She has several other shows that may work for locals wishing to appear on national television.

Weathers says she heard from several families interested in appearing on “Wife Swap,” an upcoming CMT reboot of the original ABC series that was looking specifically for Georgia residents. “However, they each had a disqualifying factor, unfortunately.”

But are you:

› A twin or “sexually fluid” individual looking for a soulmate?

› Living with the regret that you wronged someone?

All are premises of upcoming shows for various production companies.

Not all of the shows sound so touchy-feely.

“I am still looking for families who cook and individuals who have a vast knowledge of things,” says Weathers of “Family Food Fight” for ABC and “Mental Samurai” for Fox.

“Temptation Island” has finished

its latest round of casting, she says, so couples at a crossroads will need to wait for the next call.

Weathers, an independent contractor for several production companies, says all of the following are casting nationwide.

“ARE YOU THE ONE?”

› Premise: “If your perfect match was standing right in front of you, would you even know it? In the most ambitious dating experiment ever attempted, MTV will select 11 gorgeous single women and 11 hot single guys and put them through an extensive matchmaking process to find their perfect match. If they succeed, they’ll split the largest cash prize in MTV history: $1 million.”

› Particular interests: This season, in addition to the regular roster of “hot singles,” producers say they also are interested in casting: twins (though you do not have to be a twin to be considered) and sexually fluid individuals (you must be at least 21 and open to dating all genders).

› To be considered: Fill out the form at the appropriate website.

› Premise: “The producers of ‘Big Brother,’ ‘Flip or Flop Atlanta’ and TLC’s ‘This Is Life Live’ are casting a new documentary series, ‘Forgiveness.’ This new show is looking for people who have hurt someone (emotionally or physically) and are looking for forgiveness, and people who have been hurt and are looking for an apology. From small misunderstandings to life-altering actions, this is your chance to tell your story.”

› Particular interests: Examples include a family estrangement (or any type of major relationship division caused by divorce, betrayal, judgments over sexuality, religion, addiction, etc.), violent crime or the intentional or accidental taking of someone’s life.

“There is no story too big or too small. If you want forgiveness, tell us why. This is your chance to reconnect, clear your name or meet someone whom you have hurt for the very first time. Saying the words ‘I’m sorry’ or ‘I forgive you’ have the power to transform lives and bring closure to everyone involved.”

› To be considered: Email casting@flyotw. com. Include your name and contact information, your story of what happened, with whom you want to reconcile, and the last time you saw that person, and a recent photo.

Both sides will be compensated.

› Premise: Ayesha Curry and the producer of “MasterChef” are on a nationwide search for families of three or more to go head-to-head in high-pressure cooking challenges inspired by real home cooking and family food traditions.

› Particular interests: Does your Italian grandmother make every meal a fast? Can your brother grill a mean fillet? Is your Greek aunt the ultimate dinner party host?

› To be considered: Go to https:// www.familyfoodfightcasting.com. All family members must be at least 18 years old by Oct. 1 and legal U.S. residents. You should have consent from all affected family members before applying on their behalf.

› Premise: “They say the brain is our most important muscle … It’s about to get a serious workout. From the producers of ‘American Ninja Warrior’ and ‘The Voice’ comes a nerve-shredding test of smarts like no other. Have you get the speed, stamina and focus to compete against the most mind-blowing mental agility course ever created? With the clock ticking, a series of multiple choice questions will test every aspects of your mind — memory, puzzles, patterns, trivia. One wrong answer, and you’re out; move too slowly, and you’re out. It’s a game everyone can play, but only the very smartest, and fastest, can win.”

› Particular interests: Besides “brain power,” producers are looking for “an interesting story.”
