Suspects arrested in connection with Labor Day homicide

Two suspects were arrested Wednesday in connection to the Vance Avenue Labor Day homicide, Chattanooga police say.

Iesha Jones, 25, and Domanic Gillispie, 26, were arrested in Polk County, a news release states.

They’re accused of killing Norman Sullivan, 52, who was found with a gunshot wound at an apartment building in the 2100 block of Vance Avenue just before 4 p.m. Monday. He died before police arrived.

Sullivan’s death was the city’s 14th homicide of 2018, down from 30 at this time in 2017. Last year saw a total of 34 homicides.

Jones and Gillispie are charged with criminal homicide, felony reckless endangerment, and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to the news release. Jones also faces an attempted murder charge.

The two were taken into custody with the help of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Benton Police Department and the United States Marshals.

It wasn’t clear under what circumstances the two were arrested.

Jones has an extensive arrest record in Hamilton County dating back to 2012, according to online court records. Since then, she’s collected about 29 charges not including the ones filed Wednesday.

Her charges range from driving with an expired registration to assault, burglary and theft. Though, several of her charges have been dismissed.

Gillispie does not have an arrest history in Hamilton County, according to online court records.
