POWER RANKINGS
Breaking down the Big 12
1. Oklahoma (3-0): There can be no complaints about the offense and its baseball-playing quarterback. The Sooners host Army this weekend.
2. West Virginia (2-0): West Virginia was handed an off weekend thanks to a hurricane and there is little doubt Dana Holgersen put down a few Hurricanes.
3. Oklahoma State (3-0): The Cowboys picked up the most impressive out-of-conference win of any team in the Big 12 when Oklahoma State knocked off Boise State at home.
4. TCU (2-1): There isn’t much shame in losing to Ohio State, even if it was a pseudo home game for the Horned Frogs. Gary Patterson’s team gets to lick their wounds with a trip to Austin.
5. Texas (2-1): TEXAS IS BACK! ... to holding a winning record after knocking off an overrated USC squad at home in front of a sold-out stadium.
6. Texas Tech (2-1): The Red Raiders offense exploded, the defense looked horrible and Kliff Kingsbury helped keep the fan base in Lubbock happy for at least one more week.
7. Kansas State (2-1): The old man picked on a young program when Kansas State took UTSA to the woodshed in Manhattan.
8. Iowa State (0-2): Matt Campbell entered the season as the next hot coaching prospect. He’s now 0-2 after consecutive losses to Iowa and Oklahoma.
9. Kansas (2-1): Thrashing of Rutgers was Kansas’ first win over a Power Five opponent since the win over Texas that ended Charlie Strong’s tenure in Austin.
10. Baylor (2-1): Baylor still stinks. Are the Bears worse than Kansas? Tune in Saturday to find out! At least Waco is nice this time of year, or something.
