Blue Ribbons & Bragging Rights
Hamilton County Fair at Chester Frost Park
Bragging rights and blue ribbons are up for grabs when the 2018 Hamilton County Fair is held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29-30, at Chester Frost Park.
Just over 500 entries will be judged in 11 categories ranging from field crops and poultry to vegetables and home-centered products this weekend. Additionally, dozens of antique cars will compete for county fair plaques.
Those entries are just one facet of the fun on tap in the park. More than 50 crafters will have booths stocked with home decor items, holiday decorations, jewelry, woodworking, textiles and other original handwork.
The children’s area will include a climbing wall and zucchini races.
Last year’s popular pig races will return. New this weekend will be interactive soccer dogs and camel rides.
In addition to buskers roaming the fairgrounds, there will be two stages of music and dance performances both days. And of course, no fair is complete without kettle corn, corn dogs, popcorn, hot dogs and hamburgers and drinks.
Visitors must park and catch a shuttle to the park from either Northgate Mall or Middle Valley Recreation Center. The bus fare of $6 for adults and $4 for children 3 to 12 includes gate admission at the fair. Tickets will be sold until 4 p.m. both days.
Be advised that for added security, backpacks and other carry-ons will be subject to search before boarding a shuttle. Strollers are allowed. Also, the county fair is a smoke-free event.
