New York designer Meg to host open house in Chattanooga
NEW YORK DESIGNER HOSTS OPEN HOUSE IN CHATTANOOGA
ANewYork-based fashion designer brings her fall 2018 line to Chattanooga this week. Megan Kinney, creator of the clothing brand Meg, will be hosted by Embellish at Warehouse Row. Shoppers may book appointments for personalized customer service and a cocktail party from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Kinney will host an open house to showcase her fashions from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.
“If you’re willing to take the time out and own a half-hour or hour of your life, you can have a transformative moment that you create a new you,” says Kinney.
Kinney is bringing professional stylists ready to assist women.
She describes the Meg brand as versatile pieces that elevate other garments in a wardrobe and timeless apparel that never goes out of style. The collection includes pants, blouses, jumpsuits, shoes and dresses with accessories. She offers sizes 4 to 18 and can tailor clothes to fit everyone, she says.
On her website, www.megshops.com, the Meg Staples pieces include a black T-shirt with a concave hem priced at $169, cigarette pants for $198 and harem pants for $225.
Kinney says she’s bringing a complete wardrobe and says if there’s enough interest in her fashions, she would consider opening a shop in this area.
She has six stores in New York, Brooklyn and Toronto. She also has annual shopping events in Washington, D.C., Chicago and San Francisco.
Kinney says she’s formed relationships with some Chattanooga-area residents who shop in her store when they visit New York. She looks forward to seeing those customers again and meeting new people.
Kinney says she has witnessed firsthand how clothes can transform how a woman feels about herself. She saw
women instantly change their perspective about themselves when they tried on fashions in her mother’s and grandmother’s clothing store. Kinney wants to provide that same service.
“Come have a moment with yourself,” she says.
Her design philosophy is to focus on the reallife needs and bodies of women.
The Meg brand chooses two cities a year to display its spring and fall fashions. This year, Kinney’s media consultant, Kafi Drexel, suggested Chattanooga after touring the city in April.
“When I went home, to New York City, I couldn’t help but rave about Chattanooga and the direction the city is taking as a tourist, arts, entertainment, food, outdoors and shopping destination,” says Drexel.
