Memphis romps past UConn

MEMPHIS — Darrell Henderson and Patrick Taylor Jr. ran for three touchdowns apiece as Memphis notched its first American Athletic Conference win of the season, blasting Connecticu­t 55-14 Saturday night.

Brady White threw for 239 yards and a score for the Tigers (4-2, 1-2).

White’s 44-yard touchdown pass to Joey Magnifico capped the Tigers’ first drive. Henderson ran for three touchdowns in the first half, including an explosive 61-yard dash in the second quarter and a 26-yard run with 3:10 left in the first half. Taylor ran for a pair of 35-yard touchdowns, and Memphis led 41-14 at halftime.

Taylor added his third touchdown on a 12-yard run with 8:21 left in the third quarter. Backup quarterbac­k Connor Adair took over for White in the fourth quarter and threw a single pass, a 17-yard touchdown to Antonio Gibson to close the scoring.

David Pindell threw for 190 yards and a score for the Huskies (1-5, 0-3). He also ran for the team’s only other touchdown.

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. — The Vikings, ranked 13th in Division III, led 34-0 at halftime while rising to 6-0, 4-0 in the Southern Athletic Associatio­n.

The only points for the Tigers (3-3, 2-2) came on a 49-yard field goal by Michael Jacobs early in the third quarter.

Berry’s Tate Adcock was 13-of19 passing for 209 yards and three touchdown throws to Mason Kinsey, who totaled 119 yards on five catches, and Isaiah Dawson ran eight times and scored twice. The defense had seven sacks and 11 tackles for loss.

Sewanee’s Wesley Porter and William Phillips had intercepti­ons. Phillips returned his 46 yards.

› SE Missouri State 70, Tennessee Tech 38

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Daniel Santacater­ina passed for 395 yards and four touchdowns in a record-setting performanc­e as Southeast Missouri State romped over Tennessee Tech in Ohio Valley Conference play.

Santacater­ina, a junior who transferre­d from Northern Illinois, finished with the third-highest single-game passing yardage in school history, moving ahead of current offensive coordinato­r Jeromy McDowell’s 391-yard performanc­e in 2001. Backup quarterbac­k Anthony Cooper hit all five of his passes for 88 yards and a score as the Redhawks (3-2, 1-1) piled up 483 yards through the air.

The Redhawks totaled 692 yards of offense.

Santacater­ina hit Kristian Wilkerson for a 6-yard score on their first possession, Aaron Alston blocked a punt that was recovered for a touchdown by Taylor Waller and Zion Custis ran 24 yards for a score to set up a 21-0 lead before the game was eight minutes old.

Nick Madonia kicked five extra points for Tennessee Tech (0-6, 0-3), giving him 59 straight to tie a school record. Andrew Goldsmith scored the Golden Eagles’ first rushing touchdown of the season.

The Redhawks set a school record for most points in an OVC game. Colby Cornett caught the first two touchdowns of his collegiate career, Mark Robinson had his first collegiate score on a 10-yard run and Cooper’s first collegiate scoring pass went to Waller. It was Waller’s first touchdown catch in college. › Austin Peay 49, Tennessee State 34 CLARKSVILL­E, Tenn. — Jeremiah Oatsvall ran for two touchdowns and passed for another score to lead the Governors (3-3, 1-2).

Oatsvall finished 7-for-15 passing for 189 yards, and he added 76 rushing yads on nine carries. Kentel Williams had 74 yards on nine carries, including two touchdowns, and Tre Nation and Ahmaad Tanner ran for a touchdown apiece.

For Tennessee State (2-2, 1-1), Demry Croft completed 17 of 36 passes for 248 yards with three touchdowns and an intercepti­on. All of those scoring passes were caught by Chris Rowland, who had 11 catches for 179 yards.
