Police nab suspect after vehicle chase
A suspect is in custody after fleeing from Chattanooga police officers and crashing on Noah Reid Road. Three patrol vehicles were involved in the crash.
No officers were injured, though the suspect did sustain injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The suspect is also a suspect in an Aug. 15 robbery in which he and another suspect impersonated Chattanooga police, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.
Lajeromeny L. Brown, 40, fled Chattanooga police officers after they tried to conduct a felony traffic stop Thursday at Jersey Pike and Hancock Road, according to the release.
Officers followed the vehicle to the 7400 block of Noah Reid Road, which is closed to motor vehicle traffic. At that point, the suspect’s vehicle left the roadway and came to a stop after striking the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks, slightly moving one of the rails.
Brown is considered a violent felon and is a suspect in an Aug. 15 robbery. The victim told police she was outside her home when approached by two black males brandishing handguns who yelled “Chattanooga police” and forced their way inside her home.
The suspects held the victim against her will while they stole electronics, a cellular phone and a vehicle. Brown is also wanted by federal agents for probation violations.
