SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Lennox McAffee and Andre Stoddard rushed for two touchdowns apiece as Wofford snapped East Tennessee State’s five-game winning streak with a 30-17 home victory Saturday in a Southern Conference showdown.

McAffee ran for 121 yards on 12 carries, and Stoddard added 54 rushing yards as the Terriers (5-2, 4-1) piled up 295 yards on the ground, scored the first 17 points and didn’t let the Buccaneers (6-2, 4-1) get closer than a touchdown.

J.J. Jerman’s 45-yard field goal as time ran out in the first half cut the Bucs’ deficit to 17-10, but Wofford turned a fumble and an interception into 13 second-half points. Former Cleveland High School quarterback Austin Herink threw for 201 yards for the Bucs but was picked off twice, with both interceptions leading to Wofford touchdowns.

Wofford was 12th and East Tennessee State 21st in both Football Championship Subdivision national polls last week.

› The Citadel 34, VMI 32 LEXINGTON, Va. — Jordan Black rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns as The Citadel survived a five-touchdown day by Virginia Military Institute quarterback Reece Udinski.

Udinski tied Bobby Mitchell’s 57-year old school record with his scoring tosses, and he broke his own VMI record with 48 completions, which came on 63 attempts for 452 yards with two interceptions. But after Udinski connected with Jakob Herres for a 27-yard score with 2:04 to go, he overthrew Devone Humphrey in the back of the end zone on the 2-point conversion attempt.

A 2-point pass also failed after Udinski found Kris Thornton on a 65-yard touchdown strike with 8:12 remaining to cut VMI’s deficit to 31-26.

The loss extended VMI’s losing streak to 24 games, the longest active streak in Division I.

Black had touchdown runs of 6 and 71 yards, with the latter helping the Bulldogs (2-4, 2-3) take a 28-20 lead in the third quarter before Jacob Godek added two field goals. The Citadel was outgained 502-366 in offensive yards but outrushed the Keydets 335-65.

Kris Thornton had 146 yards on 11 catches with two scores for VMI (0-7, 0-6).

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Devlin Hodges threw two touchdown passes, ran for another score and led a second-half rally as Samford earned its third straight win after losing four in a row.

Hodges passed for 402 yards and rushed for 45 for the Bulldogs (4-4, 3-2). Kelvin McKnight had 106 receiving yards and Jai’Rus Creamer had 103 receiving yards and a score.

The Bulldogs trailed 19-10 midway through the third quarter when defensive lineman Ahmad Gooden returned Darren Grainger’s fumble 58 yards to the end zone. A Grainger interception after the kickoff set up a 9-yard scoring pass from Hodges to Chris Shelling, and the Bulldogs went ahead 24-19 with 5:48 left in the third.

Samford had a 10-3 lead early, but Furman’s Grayson Atkins added to his first-quarter 27-yard field goal with three more in the second quarter — from 50, 51, and 53 yards — and the Bulldogs found themselves trailing 12-10 at halftime.

Grainger threw for 92 yards and a touchdown for the Paladins (2-4, 2-2).
