A LOOK AT LEE’S MUSIC HISTORY
There is arguably no other college or university in the nation whose Music Department can claim the national recognition that Lee University’s has received in the last decade, thanks to repeatedly landing students from its music groups on TV reality talent shows.
But when “Music Makers: 100 Years of Music” is held during homecoming, it will cover the people and programs that built the department to its current standard.
This event will be held twice. The original program on Friday, Nov. 2, has filled. A second program has been added for tonight, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall, 340 Church St. in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Dr. Brad Moffett, director of graduate studies in music and professor of music, will serve as narrator and guide the audience through the past 100 years.
There will be live performances from multiple Lee groups, including Piano Trio and Jazz Ensemble. Internationally acclaimed barbershop quartet Four Voices will make a guest appearance. Lee alum Phil Stacey, who finished sixth on Season 6 of “American Idol,” will also perform.
Dr. Louis Morgan, director of library services, will provide video and historical commentary on music at Lee between performances.
