The Reason for the Season

The Beach Boys bring holiday concert to town

- STAFF REPORT

The band that shaped surfer music in the 1960s, is putting a little sand in your Christmas stocking.

The Beach Boys will launch their Reason for the Season Christmas tour from Chattanooga on Friday, Nov. 16, when they play a 7:30 p.m. show in the Tivoli Theatre.

The tour supports the Beach Boys’ 12-track Christmas album released last month, “Reason for the Season.” Fans will hear favorites such as “Little St. Nick” and “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” as well as new tunes such as “Finally It’s Christmas,” which was recorded with Hanson.

“Music is something that always brought my family together, especially around Christmastime,” Mike Love said in a news release. “What is so special about this collection of songs is that they harken back to the wonder of childhood and family, but also feel very relevant and exciting for a new season of listening.”

The album features an array of new holiday songs and Christmas classics that range from bright guitar and horn-filled pop to softer traditional carols and ballads.

The Beach Boys are led by Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, who, along with Jeffrey Foskett, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill, Keith Hubacher, Christian Love and Scott Totten continue the legacy of the iconic American band.
