Notes: Purdue leads the series 73-41-6 and won 31-24 last year in West Lafayette. The Boilermakers rebounded from an 0-3 start with five wins in six games but have dropped two straight and need a win to become bowl-eligible. Indiana likewise needs a win to qualify for a postseason game.

MARYLAND (5-6, 3-5) AT NO. 14 PENN STATE (8-3, 5-3) When: 3:30 p.m. Saturday Where: Beaver Stadium, State College, Pa.

Notes: Penn State leads the series 38-2-1 and has won the past three meetings, including 66-3 last season. Maryland gave Ohio State fits last week, but inconsistencies on both sides of the ball continue to bog down the Terrapins. Penn

State turned in an uninspiring performance in a 20-7 win over Rutgers.

Notes: Illinois leads the series 55-51-5 but the Wildcats have won five of six meetings since 2012. The Illini are reeling after a 63-0 blowout loss to Iowa that dashed their flimsy bowl aspirations. Northwestern, the West Division champions, rolled past Minnesota last week, 24-14.
