Zagorski rejoins coach Arth at UTC

- BY GENE HENLEY STAFF WRITER

According to a source, Tommy Zagorski has joined the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football staff.

Zagorski’s Twitter profile lists him as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at UTC — two vacancies for head coach Tom Arth to fill. Arth still would need a wide receivers coach and a quarterbacks coach.

Zagorski most recently was the assistant head coach and tight ends coach at Eastern Kentucky, also serving as offensive coordinator in the final four games of the 2018 season after Angelo Mirando was fired. The Colonels went 4-0 in those games, averaging 31.3 points and 372.3 yards. They were balanced, averaging 163.5 rushing yards and 208.8 passing yards.

Zagorski served as Arth’s offensive coordinator at John Carroll in 2014. That season the team went 11-2, averaging 48.2 points and 482.2 yards of total offense per game, and advanced to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals. The two worked as assistants together from 2010 to 2012, with Zagorski serving as the special-teams and run-game coordinator while Arth was the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Zagorski worked for Tennessee in 2015 as an offensive quality control assistant, then left for Eastern Kentucky.
