Eli Wolf going from the Vols to Bulldogs

Former Tennessee tight end Eli Wolf announced Thursday on social media that he will play his final season at Georgia as a graduate transfer.

The 6-foot-4, 236-pounder from Minster, Ohio, played in 26 career games for the Volunteers, catching nine passes for 86 yards. He played in 11 games this past season, making two starts and collecting his first touchdown reception against South Carolina.

“I will leave the University of Tennessee with great memories, lasting friendships and a college degree,” Wolf posted on Twitter.

Georgia lost two tight ends who had eligibility remaining last month, when junior Isaac Nauta bypassed his final season for the NFL draft and when freshman Luke Ford entered the NCAA transfer portal before heading to Illinois. The Bulldogs are also moving on without Jackson Harris, who was a senior this past season.

Charlie Woerner, who will be a senior during the 2019 season, is expected to be the favorite for the starting role at the position. Wolf could quickly be the backup, as Georgia does not have anybody besides those two with significant college playing experience.

The Bulldogs signed John Fitzpatrick in last year’s class, and he redshirted the 2018 season after playing in just two games against Austin Peay and Middle Tennessee State. Georgia signed two tight ends in the 2019 recruiting cycle, landing Ryland Goede from the Atlanta suburb of Kennesaw and Brett Seither from Clearwater, Florida.
