Janet H. Calderazzo, 77, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at the Hospice of Chattanoog­a Care Center after a brief illness.

She was born May 30, 1941, in Fort Thomas, Ky., to Norl and Florence (Woods) Hamilton. She attended Northweste­rn University and was a 1974 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanoog­a with a degree in Elementary Education.

Janet taught for over 30 years, first at John Allen Elementary School in Soddy-Daisy and then at Red Bank Middle School until her retirement in 2005.

Janet was a long-time member of New City Fellowship of Chattanoog­a where she assisted in leading the women’s Sunday school class and was active in children’s ministry and teaching ESOL classes. She also volunteere­d at St. Barnabas Nursing Home until her health declined.

Janet loved the Lord, Jesus Christ. She touched many lives with her out-going personalit­y, caring encouragem­ent, generosity, laughter, and godly counsel. To those who knew her, she gave a glimpse of heaven’s love that will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Beth (Schaack) Van Deusen, James (Susan) Calderazzo and Allison (David) Poole; six grandchild­ren, Sarah and Elizabeth Van Deusen, Hannah and Rachel Calderazzo, William and Andrew Poole; her brother, Gary (Charlene) Hamilton and sister, Gayle Hamilton, as well as two nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at New City Fellowship with the Reverend Randy Nabors officiatin­g. Reception following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to New City Fellowship or Safe Harbor Presbyteri­an Church of Destin, FL.

Arrangemen­ts are by Cremation Center of Chattanoog­a, 1345 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanoog­a.
