Alexander Nealy
Alexander Lebron Nealy, 78, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, at a local hospital.
Alexander Lebron Nealy of Chattanooga was born on May 28, 1940 in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the union of the late James Sr., and Ethel Barrow Nealy.
Alexander was educated in the Chattanooga Public Schools. He was a graduate of Howard High School, class of 1958. Alex also received a BS degree from Arkansas AM&N at Pine Bluff, Ark., and a MS degree Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a loyal educator in the Dayton, Ohio Public Schools. Alexander was also a correction officer with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, Chattanooga, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Nealy, Sr., mother Ethel B. Nealy; sister, Dollie Dell; and brother, James A. Nealy, Jr.
Alexander leaves to mourn and cherish his memories his beloved wife, Audra Ingram-Nealy Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sons, Alexander L. Nealy III, of Charlotte, N.C. and Darren Nealy (Erin), of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Barbara Ruth Mitchum, brother, Louis Edward Nealy (Marta), both of Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Warren Chapel AME Church with the funeral to follow at 12 noon with Rev. Dr. Pedro K. Basden, officiating. Interment in Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery.
