It’s Red, White and Blue Day!

Children’s patriotic party at Creative Discovery Museum

- STAFF REPORT

Celebrate America’s birthday today, July 4, when the Creative Discovery Museum hosts its annual Red, White and Blue Day from noon to 4 p.m.

Children and their parents/guardians are invited to wear their red, white and blue and participate in patriotic-themed crafts and activities that teach children the reason the Fourth of July is celebrated.

“Red, White and Blue Day gives families a fun way to celebrate while exploring the historical reason for the holiday,” said Jayne Griffin, CDM director of education.

“This event is one of the few opportunities in our community for children and adults to participate in activities that go beyond our normal traditions and customs for the holiday.”

At 2 p.m., guests will gather in the Atrium for patriotic songs, followed by child-friendly “bubblewrap fireworks,” a balloon drop and dance party.

Immediately following those activities, a 21-Diet Coke geyser salute will honor military personnel who have served our country, along with “Happy Birthday, America” cake and ice cream outside on the plaza, weather permitting.

To thank those who protect and serve America, active-duty military and veterans will receive free admission to the museum today for their families (up to four guests) with presentation of a military ID.

All activities are included with regular $14.95 admission to the museum.
