Lookouts lose fifth straight

The Chattanooga Lookouts are not sad to see the Jackson Generals leave town after the visitors won their fifth game in a row at AT&T Field.

Tuesday’s 7-5 Generals win came despite another stellar night from Chattanooga’s Bash Brothers. Ibandel Isabel crushed his 23rd home run of 2019 — the most in the Cincinnati Reds organization — and another hit, and Mitch Nay had a pair of doubles and hit his 12th homer in the loss.

A four-run eighth inning off Lookouts reliever Juan Martinez turned around what was a 4-3 Chattanooga lead. A bases-loaded wild pitch tied the game before Mark Kasavioto’s sacrifice fly put the visitors ahead. Pinch-hitter Dominic Miroglio followed with a two-run homer.

Nay homered in the bottom of the eighth.

The Lookouts (8-12 in the second half) trailed 2-0 entering the fifth before Brantley Bell’s sixth homer cut the lead in half. They scored three more times in the sixth on Nay’s RBI double and Ibandel’s first-pitch two-run homer to right for a 4-2 lead.

The Generals (11-9) got within a run in the seventh but had a runner thrown out at home and ended the inning with Pavin Smith hitting a screaming line drive that was snatched by Chattanooga reliever Wyatt Strahan.

Scott Moss had another strong start for the Lookouts, pitching six innings and allowing a run on three hits with five strikeouts. He has not allowed more than three runs in any game this season.

Jackson reliever Bryan Valdez earned the win with a scoreless inning, with Miguel Aguilar working around an Alfredo Rodriguez two-out double to earn his first save.
