SOFTBALL

› North Murray High School senior and ProStar Fastpitch player Alivia Rymer committed this past weekend to continue her softball career in 2020 at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri — an NCAA Division II program headed by former Dade County and Covenant College standout player and coach Christine Engbers. “I would like to thank all of the schools that offered me the opportunity to play softball at the collegiate level,” Rymer said in a ProStar release. “I have dreamed of playing in college ever since I started and this was a difficult and stressful decision, but ultimately I kept coming back to the opportunities at Lincoln University and the relationship I have built with Coach Engbers.” Rymer also plays basketball. “She came to ProStar as an excellent softball player,” ProStar CEO Steve Chattin said, “but now she is a leader and someone we know we can count on both on and off the field. The approach she brings to each and every practice and game will be missed. … Alivia is one of the top power hitters in the South. In her two years with ProStar Fastpitch she has been our leading home run hitter. In the 2018 nationals and in this year’s Scenic City event she put on an unrivaled hitting exhibition. She has excellent reactions at third base and exhibits no fear playing 45 feet from the batter.”
