California metal band stops at The signal Friday

American rock band Warrant stops in The Signal on July 19 on its cross-country summer tour marking its 30th anniversary as a band as well as in support of ninth album “Louder Harder Faster.”

Hitting it big in 1989, the Hollywood-based band rose through the ranks of the local Sunset Strip scene to the level of multiplatinum-selling, chart-topping success.

The glam metal band first came into the national spotlight with debut album “Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich.” That album produced radio and MTV chart-toppers “Down Boys,” “Sometimes She Cries” and “Heaven,” which reached No. 1 in Rolling Stone and No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks in a row.

Sophomore album “Cherry Pie” in 1990 spawned hits “Cherry Pie,” “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” and “I Saw Red.” The band played 200 shows in support of “Cherry Pie” and ended up being one of the top-grossing tours of 1991.

Over the course of its career, Warrant has sold over 10 million albums worldwide. The song “Cherry Pie” has taken on a pop-culture life of its own, being featured in countless movies, TV shows, commercials and popular video game Guitar Hero II.

In September 2008, Robert Mason replaced Jani Lane as lead vocalist, joining four original members Jerry Dixon, Steven Sweet, Joey Allen and Erik Turner.

Warrant has been headlining festivals, casinos and fairs across the country in support of “Louder Harder Faster.” Shows on this tour include all the hits fans know and love, as well as new music such as “Louder Harder Faster” and “I Think I Will Just Stay Here & Drink.”
