Daisy Mae Mulkey

Daisy Mae Mulkey of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., passed away on Aug. 17, 2019, of natural causes. She was 82-years-old.

Daisy was a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School, worked as a secretary for many years before going on disability. Daisy was married to her high school sweet heart and husband, Jim for 64 years and was the mother of four.

Daisy was a member of the Soddy United Methodist Church where until recently, she was responsible for sending cards to the members of the church for various occasions and situations. Daisy also provided community service and leadership as a long-standing member of the Soddy Lodge Order of the Eastern Star and a Mother Advisor in the Soddy Lodge Order of the Rainbow for Girls organizations. She was a loving Christian woman that spent many years caring for and giving to others.

An avid reader, Daisy probably read well over one thousand books in her lifetime. She also loved crossword puzzles, word search, growing roses, sewing and camping.

She was preceded in death by a son, James “Jimmy” Mulkey; her parents, Foster and Emma Baker; a grandchild, Kevin Shelton and siblings, Charles Baker, Vinson Baker and Barbara Cox.

Survivors include her husband, James “Jim” Mulkey; children, Julie (Anthony) Shelton, Yvonne (Greg) Painter, Jana (Scott) Matsinger; grandchildren, Anthony (Jill) Shelton, Josh (Christy) Painter; great-grandchildren, Talon Shelton, Addie Painter, Bentley Painter and Olivia Kate Painter; a brother, Donald Baker; along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home. The memorial service will be 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, at the funeral home with Rev. J. Tod Kingrea officiating. Interment at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, will be a private event.
