Evelyn Ellis

SOMERSET, Ky. — Evelyn Justeen Ellis, 85, formerly of Ringgold, Ga., passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, at the Lake Cumberland Hospital Jean Waddle Care Center.

She was born in Deer Lodge, Tenn., on June 21, 1934; daughter of the late Ranel and Ruth (Broyles) Owens.

She is survived by three sons, Randy and (Lois) Mathis of Eubank, Steve and (Robbie) Mathis, of Signal Mountain, Tenn., and Lawrence and (Mada) Mathis of Rossville, Ga.; one brother, Jim and (Pat) Owens, of Ringgold, Ga.; one sister, Norma Grimes, of Scottsboro, Ala.; three grandchildren, Darion, Dionne, and Michael; and four great-grandchildren, Joseph, Dexter, Cannon, and Sienna.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and father of her sons, Jim Mathis; her second husband, Doyle Ellis; three brothers, Claude, David, and Lawrence; and three sisters, Elsie, June, Maggie.

A Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, at the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Gardens in Ringgold, Ga. Visitation will be after 12 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.
