Bradley Central’s Berry transferri­ng to prep school

One of the Chattanoog­a area’s top basketball prospects will be not be finishing his prep career in the Chattanoog­a area.

Bradley Central Class of 2022 guard Quante Berry, who was a Times Free Press Best of Preps selection in 2019-20, announced Monday that he would be attending Winston-Salem Christian School in North Carolina for his final two seasons.

“First, I would like to thank Bradley Central for the best two years of my life,” Berry posted on his Instagram page. “I would also like to thank my teammates and coaches for all the memories and lessons I will carry for the rest of my life. I love y’all like family!”

The 6-foot-3 Berry averaged 16.6 points, 4.3 rebounds. 3.6 assists, 2.6 steals and a block per game for the Bears, who finished second in District 5-AAA, won the district tournament and were region runners-up. Their season ended in the Class AAA sectional round with a final record of 23-7.

Berry currently holds offers from Florida, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Rhode Island and East Tennessee State. Tennessee has also shown interest. Berry currently plays for B-Maze Elite’s AAU program.

His brother Norrance - who played three seasons at the Christ School in North Carolina before finishing his prep career at the Scotland Campus, a post-graduate school in Pennsylvan­ia - recently signed to continue his basketball career at Rhode Island, and his sister Nora went to Daytona State Junior College before playing at the University of South Carolina-Upstate.
