Tommy Dean Jarrell I, 77, of Ooltewah, TN, died on Sunday May 3, 2020.
He was born on February 19, 1943, the son of Lenard and Alva Conn Jarrell in Wyandotte, Michigan. He served as an Airborne Ranger in the U.S. Army. He was a devout member of the Ooltewah Church of God. He earned a B.S. in psychology from Wayne State University.
Tommy was a retired Dye Maker from Ford Motor Company.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Osborne Jarrell. They were married for 55 years. He is the proud father of Donald John Jarrell (Vickie Johnson Jarrell) and Tommy Dean Jarrell II (Leah Gibbs Jarrell). He is the grandfather of Drew, T.J., Jenna, Jacob, Gabe, Lauren, Ashleigh, Doug and Megan. He is the great grandfather of Anthony, Ada Mae, Analeigh and Cooper.
He is also survived by his sister Phyllis, and brothers Robert and Ronnie.
He was known as Tommy to his friends and ‘Ed’ to his wife. He, in-turn, called his wife Linda, ‘Mert’. They were a very special couple who devoted their lives and marriage to serving others.
Tommy was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son and friend. He was always joking and laughing and lived life to the fullest. He fought a 4 year battle with lung cancer, but was taken to Heaven by his heart. He is loved and will be missed by so many. God gave us a great blessing in Tommy.
