RINGGOLD - Preston Ryan Harris, 32, died July 8 at his home in Ringgold, GA. He loved Jesus and his large extended family. He is most often remembered among them as having “such a sweet heart.” His kind soul and beautiful smile will be missed by many.

Ryan searched for peace in his ardent reading of Scripture. He left his Bible open on his bed when he died. His death was by suicide, following a long battle with addiction, traumatic brain injury and mental illness for which he could not find help.

Ryan is survived by his mom, Beth Hamilton, brother, Tyler Smith, two sons, Malachi and Conner, all of Ringgold; father, Bo Harris of East Ridge; two brothers, Chris Harris, Oregon, and Jarrod Harris, East Ridge; maternal grandparents, Nanny (Judy Kay) and Pappaw (Curtis) Williams, aunt and uncle, Sissy (Angela) and Miles Snider, cousins KK (Kerrigan) and Ella, all of Ringgold; and so many other beloved cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Granny (Jewel) and Pappaw (George) Mueller of Ringgold and his paternal grandparents, Granny (Anita Ruth) and Clarence Mose Harris of Fort Oglethorpe.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Chattanooga; P.O. Box 17062; Chattanooga, TN 37415.)

We respectfully request that social distancing and all CDC Covid-19 measures be adhered to. Masks will be required.
