RISING FAWN - John Henry Morris, Jr., 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.

He had lived in the North Georgia area for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He was an Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam War and retired from Astec Industries in 2015 after more than 35 years of service. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Fort Oglethorpe and he had a passion for Antique Cars. He was a loving and devoted brother, husband, father and grandfathe­r that will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Morris, Sr. & Ivauline Painter and 2 brothers, Rusty Painter & Carl Painter.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 55 years, Shirley Taylor Morris; 3 children & spouses, John H. & (Lisa Michelle) Morris, III, Jerry & (Amanda) Morris and Donna & (Bob) Capps; brother & sister-in-law, Donald & (Cathy) Painter; 4 grandchild­ren, Matthew Capps, Sarah Capps, Kayla Morris and Gabriel Morris; and numerous extended family & friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 3, 2020 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday and prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 in the Chattanoog­a National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the V.F.W., 89 Memorial Drive, Rossville, GA 30741 (706) 861-0061.
